At the birth of NX was released three of the lens. Two of them – 18-55 and 50-200 had their own hoods in the box, but hood of 30mm pancake had to buy separately: ED-LH30NB.
It perfectly fulfills its responsibilities – the struggle with the side-light and illuminations. And yet – well covers the front of the lens. You need to stick with something long inside to get to the glass. If the lens hood wearing, you can generally do not wear a cap or protective filters on the lens.
Then came the pancake 20/2.8, and for me was the discovery that the old hood for 30/2 can be used with new lens too.
The following two pictures show the vignetting. The first – with a hood, the second – without. (The pictures show increased levels of vignetting at 2.5 level, for ease of comparison, the actual vignette on the lens, of course, is not so big)
So I did not wait for a sale of native blend for 20mm lens, and just bought a second blend of 30mm for my 20/2.8.
Very nice for street – not necessary to remove the lens cap if you need to make a quick shot.
Later became available the hood for the NX 20/2.8 – named LH20NB, in similar design with predecessor.
Differences in height and outer diameter.
Of course, I made test with the new lens 16/2.4, in hope that history will repeat. Here are the results:
And… yes! LH20NB works fine with 16/2.4.

hood/no_hood – honestly I see no almost any difference. But of course this may help if extra hard sidelight will bring flare spots.
hi suntale,
i just wondered, does the LH20NB have a cover aswell, just like the LH30NB?
I think the coverings of this two hoods is quite similar. (If you mean the protection from glare)
thanks for your reaction.
i actually meant if LH20NB has a screw on cover to close the hood like the LH30NB has.
Ahh.. Yes, LH20NB has a screw but has not a cover in set. The screw is 43mm, the same as on lens, so you can use lens cover over the hood.
that’s too bad, since the the lens cover is much thicker than the srcew on cover, so lens, hood and lens cover will stand out a lot more.
good to know that the LH30NB works aswell on the 20mm lens, i’ll be buying that one.
thanks a lot!
